Numerology
Many witches often choose a craft name, one that differs from their
birth name, some use names of deities, some use animal names,
and some may combine the two. Actually once you meet a few, if
they are so inclined to tell you their craft name, you'll notice that
there are millions of ways to create a name for yourself. Witches may
even have two names, one for use in public gatherings and another
known strictly by the Goddess and God and used during
spellworkings. Numerology is perhaps one of the most common ways
of choosing a craft name. Listed below is just one form of
numerology, but perhaps the one most commonly used.

The way the above chart is used is quiet simple. First you must
find your birth number by adding the digits of your birthday. For
example, if you were born on June 23, 1956, simply change the
date into numbers 6.23.1956 = 6+2+3+2+1+9+5+6= 32. Now
take the 32 and bring it down to a single digit. 3+2= 5. Five
would be your birth number.
Next, find the name number of the name you wish to use.
This is done with the above chart using the same method as
finding out your birth number. If you chose to use the name
Diana it would break down like this...
D = 4, I = 9, A = 1, N = 5, and A =1.
4+9+1+5+1= 20, 2+0 = 2. Now your birth number is 5 and Diana
is 2. It's not written in stone but many choose to use a name where
both the name number and birth number match. To do this with
the name Diana you need to add a # 3 letter, either a C, L or U.
You could change the name to Dicana, Dilana or Dianau. If this
name doesn't suit you, try again using a different name.
Again, this is not the way everyone chooses a craft name, use
whatever you like, be creative for it's your name. For help with
choosing a craft name see my Magickal names section on the next
page.
