The Pentagram

The Pentagram, a five - pointed star is probably the most recognized symbol of witchcraft. Four of the points symbolize the four elements, Earth, Air, Fire and Water, and the top point symbolizing the fifth element, the spirit. However, many people who don't understand witchcraft, see the Pentagram and immediately think of devil worship. Satanists use an inverted Pentagram meaning that the worldly possessions are greater then the spiritual. The Pentagram is a favorite decoration for witches and many wear them on a ring or necklace. It also appears on Wiccan altars signifying Earth.
